About me

He traveled around the world, lived in Canada, then floated down the Yukon River on a homemade raft and spent about 100 days camping in the Alaskan forest. He then attempted to climb mountains overseas, including Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn, before moving to Shiretoko in 2019.

"ALKU" means "beginning" in Finnish and "walk" in Japanese. "Beginning" always starts with a new step. This name contains the feeling of taking a step towards a new challenge and the desire to cherish our connection with nature (walking on the earth).

I will guide you through the unique climate of Shiretoko, using what I felt and learned there, as well as the experiences I have had in the various fields I have walked in so far. Traveling is a great opportunity to get to know your true self! Nature can sometimes teach you more important things than textbooks. Let's walk together through the fascinating forests of Shiretoko!

After traveling around the world, I worked as an outdoor guide in the Yukon Territory in Canada, where I was in charge of tours to see the aurora borealis, hiking in the summer, and snowshoeing and ice fishing in the winter.

Even after returning to Japan, I could not forget the natural environment of the far north, so I decided to move to eastern Hokkaido, which has a similar scale. From spring to autumn, I work as a canoe guide on Lake Kussharo and the Kushiro River.

I would like to experience the special nature of Hokkaido and share its wonder with everyone. Solo travel: 15,000km across West Africa by bicycle; 580km across Greenland on foot; 2,000km kayaking on the Nile; 1,000km across the Gobi Desert on foot
